Reappointment and new member supervisory board

REAPPOINTMENT OF CHAIR
Annelies van der Pauw, who took office as chair of the supervisory board on December 1, 2020, has been reappointed as chair for her second term. For over thirty years, she has primarily focused on mergers and acquisitions and on advising on corporate governance as a lawyer. Her numerous supervisory and management positions demonstrate that she follows art, culture and science and economic and political developments based on her social commitment. For example, she was chair of the board of the Fonds BKVB, and after its merger with the Mondriaan Foundation, chair of the Supervisory Board of the Mondriaan Fund. She is currently chair of the Supervisory Board of Maastricht University, member of the Supervisory Board of NatWest Markets N.V., and board member of the AkzoNobel Art Foundation.
Annelies van der Pauw: “The Stedelijk Museum is a renowned institution with an impressive history and a unique collection. Over the past four years, I have come to know it as an organization that follows, shows and documents the ever-changing times. With its wonderful collection as a basis and the principles of the current management as a compass, the Stedelijk continues to play an important role as a platform and meeting place in the urban, national and international debate on modern and contemporary visual arts and design. I am honored that I can continue to contribute to this institution in this day and age as chair of the Supervisory Board.”

WOUTER HAN NEW MEMBER
The board welcomes Wouter Han as a new member, who brings with him financial expertise, knowledge and experience and extensive general management experience. Han, who trained as a lawyer, previously worked at MeesPierson and Lazard, and is currently a partner at CVC Capital Partners. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam and chairman of the Trustfonds Rijksakademie Amsterdam. Previously, Han was board member at the Appel art centre, the World Wildlife Fund and the Leiden University Fund, where he also taught at the Faculty of Law & Finance.
Wouter Han succeeds Homme ten Have, who is leaving the board of the Stedelijk after the maximum two terms, and is a member of the Audit Committee.
Wouter Han: “It is fantastic to be part of such a renowned institute as the Stedelijk Museum, where my passion for art and Amsterdam comes together. I am looking forward to realising the objectives together with the other members of the supervisory board and the board of directors.”
The members of the supervisory board are appointed by the municipality of Amsterdam (represented by its Board of Mayor and Aldermen) on the recommendation of the supervisory board and after hearing the management of the museum. The recruitment of members of the supervisory board is public.
OPPORTUNITY OF SUPERVISORY TALENT
A new development is the position that the supervisory board has created for a trainee; a promising professional with a passion for governance. The trainee is given a unique opportunity to participate in the decision-making and strategic processes of the organization under the guidance of experienced supervisory board members. Shareen Bodha, Chief Marketing Officer at Skytree, started last September as the first trainee. She is given the opportunity to develop herself into a fully-fledged supervisor during a period of one year.
