Theory — Jun 7, 2020

The work of Nam June Paik (1932-2006) is very relevant today. In the 1970s he was one of the first artists to work with state of the art technology of that era and to investigate the impact of mass media. The artist erased the boundaries between art and technology, between East and West, investigating technology’s impact on globalization and everyday life.

We are currently living Paik's future. This program is all about today's makers. What is the influence that Paik has had on their work? Do they recognize themselves in his playful way of pushing the boundaries of technology? How do they themselves do this?

With contributions from Sook-Kyung Lee, JODI, Frouke ten Velden, Dianne Verdonk a.o.
