The Stedelijk Museum is all about street life and art this Museumnacht. The huge translucent canopy by Keith Haring is our beacon in the night. Haring's motto was “Art is for everybody” and the American artist painted the huge canvas (it measures almost 12 x 20 meters) especially for his solo exhibition at the Stedelijk in 1986. He painted it in just one day at the museum, using spray paint. Thirty years later, the canopy is now, thanks to a restoration, back on view. You can discover it during Museumnacht, but of course there's a lot more to do: grab a bean bag and listen to the Keith Haring audio tour, discover your own street art skills in one of the workshops of graffiti master Mick La Rock, or paint to 80's music with Roxanne Dekker. Just like Keith Haring, the artist of the energetic spoken word collective Indigo Ink cover themes like identity and activism in their work. Our youngest employees (The Blikopeners) are ready to guide you through the museum and of course there will be drinks and bites. Ready to hit the streets? See you at Museumnacht!
