After the museum reopens, the Stedelijk will continue the series stedelijk|gallery talks, in which well-known scientists, artists, curators, and critics organize a tour around a selection of exhibited works in the museum on the basis of their own expertise and background.
Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen, who works for the Stedelijk as the curator for contemporary art, will give a Gallery Talk in the afternoon. The tour will focus on the opening exhibition, 'Beyond Imagination', which Van Nieuwenhuyzen organized together with Kathrin Jentjens.

Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen has been a journalist, art historian, and curator for the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam since 1995. At the Stedelijk, he arranged various solo exhibitions, including exhibitions of Gabriel Orozco, Matthew Monahan, Gilbert & George, and group exhibitions such as "Wild Walls" (1995), "Peiling 5" (1996), and "From the Corner of the Eye" (1998). From 1999 to 2006, Van Nieuwenhuyzen was the head of the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (SMBA), the project space of the museum in the center of Amsterdam. From 2000 to 2003, he was the associate director of exhibitions for the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London, where he was responsible for the exhibition program with a team of three international directors and where he organized several exhibitions. In 2005, he was the client for the film installation "Mandarin Ducks", by De Rijke/De Rooij, for the Dutch pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale. Van Nieuwenhuyzen has regularly written for international art journals and has edited and produced several films about artists. He has written essays for publications about Marlene Dumas, Rob Scholte, Aernout Mik, Gabriel Orozco, and Allora & Calzadilla, among others. Together with Kathrin Jentjens, he is the co-curator of the exhibition "Beyond Imagination", the opening exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum.
