The Austrian artist Maria Lassnig is internationally regarded as one of the twentieth century’s foremost artistic figures. In the Netherlands, however, she is almost unknown. Her multifaceted oeuvre includes paintings, drawings, films and sculptures. Lassnig became best known for her Körperbewusstsein (body awareness), the relationship between your body and the world. She does not depict what she sees, but portrays the inner experience of her body.

Through the theme of body awareness she also touched on subjects like family, death, the role of women in society, technical developments, the relation of mankind and nature, and armed conflicts. These various subjects will be present in the tour, with a special focus on the latter. In the exhibition, material for an unfinished antiwar film, which Lassnig had been planning for a long time and will be shown for the first time.

Experience for yourself how Maria Lassnig thought and worked and discover her extensive oeuvre together with a tour guide.
