10 years Bathtub

The Bathtub is having a birthday. In September 2022, it will be exactly ten years since the new wing of the Stedelijk was put into use. The design by Benthem Crouwel Architects was quickly dubbed de Badkuip (the Bathtub). We, of course, take on that name with love.

And when it's your birthday, you celebrate.

We do this in a long weekend, from September 23 to 25, in which we open our doors wide and are open ourselves. Open to the past, but especially to today and tomorrow. We will present exciting performances, our world-renowned collection that is shown in a completely new way, performances, guided tours, lectures, workshops, and much more.

We are able to celebrate our anniversary thanks to our anniversary partners and the founding partners who stood at the cradle during the construction of the new wing of the Stedelijk Museum.

Friday night 23 September: Grand opening

This event is sold out

The Bathtub celebrates its 10th anniversary! This anniversary weekend kicks off with a Grand Opening, right across the museum. After closing time, the doors of the Stedelijk will open for the start of a long weekend of stimulating performances, the world-famous collection now on display in a completely new way, with DJs, performances, tours, lectures, workshops and much more.

Saturday 24 September: free entrance for all

On Saturday September 4th the museum will be free for everyone. Join the Bathtub Lecture with Yvette Mutumba and Bas Heijne. You can also experience Higther xtn., a performance by Michele Rizzo in the entrance area.

This event is sold out

During the RABO Family day, families are our honorary guests in the Stedelijk Museum and can enjoy a festival in between world-famous artworks. All workshops and activities are dedicated to 10 years of Bathtub.
