artists donate graphics portfolio to support the stedelijk
Exhibition — Mar 30 until May 16, 2007
Ten internationally famed artists, namely Eberhard Havekost, Sarah Morris, Dirk Skreber, Jonathan Meese, Daniel Richter, Gert and Uwe Tobias, Angus Fairhurst, Luc Tuymans, Wilhelm Sasnal and Michael Raedecker, have each made a extraordinary artwork free of charge for a special graphics portfolio.
The Stedelijk Museum will publish this portfolio in a limited edition of one hundred copies, and the works themselves will be on view in the Sandberg Hall in Stedelijk Museum CS for a month.
Museum Director Gijs van Tuyl and gallery owner Jorg Grimm (of Grimm Fine Art) selected internationally famed artists who have an affinity for working in editions. The artists involved expressed their willingness to support the purchasing fund of the Stedelijk Museum by producing a special graphic print and donating it for the project at no cost. These ten numbered and signed works of art – lithographs, etchings and silk-screen prints – have been collected in a luxuriously produced portfolio and are available in a limited edition of one hundred copies.
The artists chosen fit in well with the collection of the Stedelijk Museum. Many of them have had work shown in the museum in recent years in solo and group exhibitions, and some have work represented in the museum’s collection. In view of the congenial price of the portfolio, € 10.000 (€ 1.000 per work), these renown names in art are now available for a wide audience. With the purchase the buyer not only supports the museum but also acquires a wonderful collector’s item.
This portfolio has been made possible by collaboration with Jorg Grimm (initiator) and Van Dooren Advice (coordination).
