There are so many different forms of art, performance is one of the most difficult, the most immaterial, and the most real.
Marina Abramović has been a prominent figure in performance and body art since the 1970s and is considered one of the most important founders of this art form. Be part of this unique opportunity and hear Marina Abramović speak live in this Artist Talk about the thoughts and processes behind her work.
In conversation with Rein Wolfs (director of the Stedelijk Museum) and Karen Archey (curator Time-based Media), Marina Abramović will explore aspects of the exhibition and her oeuvre; from her early work, created in former Yugoslavia and in Amsterdam, to the pioneering performances with her partner Ulay, and works from her solo practice, in which she is still active today. Artist Miles Greenberg, whose work is currently on display at Buro Stedelijk, joins te conversation to discuss Abramović's legacy.
After the talk, there will be an opportunity to visit the exhibition. You do not need to book a separate start time for this.
